Raising Children Who Transform Nations Through Holistic Care

Our Mission

Children of the Nations (COTN) is a Christian nonprofit organization dedicated to providing holistic care for orphaned and destitute children in poverty-stricken areas of the world. Founded in 1995 by Chris and Debbie Clark, who began with a trip to Sierra Leone inspired by a child’s prayer, COTN focuses on meeting physical, educational, social, and spiritual needs to empower children to become leaders who transform their communities and nations. We serve in five countries: Malawi, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Dominican Republic, and others across Africa and the Caribbean.

“We exist to raise children who transform nations.”

With a commitment to long-term sustainability, COTN has impacted thousands of lives, including 186 university and vocational graduates contributing to their societies. In 2025, we continue our work amid challenges like founder retirement, focusing on expanding programs for lasting change.

Our Key Programs

  • Child Sponsorship: For $39-$55/month, sponsors support children’s needs in Village Partnership, Family-Style Homes, or University/Vocational programs, providing education, food, medical care, and more. https://www.cotni.org/how-sponsorship-works
  • Feeding Program: Addresses immediate hunger with nutritious meals for 4,329 children, while building sustainable farms for long-term food security.
  • University/Vocational Program: Equips students with higher education and skills, leading to 186 graduates in fields like medicine and engineering. https://www.cotni.org/university-vocational-program
  • One Church, One Village: An in-depth, guided plan that helps your church develop a meaningful, lasting relationship with a specific village in Africa or the Caribbean. https://www.cotni.org/one-church-one-village
  • Village Partnership: Offers community-based support including schools, clean water, and mentorship in places like Uganda. https://www.cotni.org/village-partnership
  • Venture Program: A short-term mission program to expose participants to the COTN mission so that they may utilize their skills, resources, and relationships to accomplish the vision of raising children who transform nations. https://www.cotni.org/venture-program/
  • Medical and Outreach: Provides clinics, trauma counseling, and sustainable development to overcome poverty and war’s effects. In Uganda since 2005, we’ve built schools, homes, and farms to support hundreds of children amid post-war recovery. . https://www.cotni.org/sustainable-development/
