48011 Pursue the Union with God

Congratulations!

You are farther on your spiritual journey than most Christians!

We encourage you to “excel still more” (1 Thessalonians 4:1), particularly in making disciples, sharing your faith, and helping others in their journey with Christ.

You may already have tools and resources for evangelism and discipleship. That is great!

If not, use the “Share Jesus” section in this JO App to share the Gospel and the “Personal Growth” section to disciple others.

Union with God

We also recommend “Time with God”.

The “Time with God” section is designed to help you grow more intimate in your fellowship with God.

When Jesus spoke with the Father just before He was betrayed and arrested, He talked about the union of believers with the Trinity.

“The glory you gave to me I have given to them, that they may be one just as we are one—I in them and you in me—that they may be completely one, so that the world will know that you sent me, and you have loved them just as you have loved me.” (John 17:22–23)

Just as Jesus and the Father are one, in our new life in Christ, we are meant to be one with God—Jesus in us, and the Father in the Son.

The union of God and man is first and foremost realized in the person of Jesus who is 100% divine and 100% human. The new humanity is perfectly united with God in Jesus.

We do not lose our individuality in this union with God. Rather, in it, we are perfected and become who we are meant to be. While we will not reach the perfect union in this life as Jesus has with the Father, it is a worthy goal to pursue. Then, our life will be fruitful as well.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me—and I in him—bears much fruit, because apart from me you can accomplish nothing.” (John 15:5)
