48003.2 I Am Not Sure If I Can Be Good Enough for Heaven

You are not sure if you can be good enough to earn your way into heaven.

The truth is, according to the Bible, that none of us is good enough. “Everyone has sinned and is far away from God’s saving presence” (Romans 3:23, GNT).

So, what happened? Here is the story.

God Is Good

God is love. He is light. He is life. God is good.

God is also holy. Wherever He rules, His realm is morally good.

Heaven refers to God’s realm known as the kingdom of God or the kingdom of heaven. Heaven is all about living in fellowship with God under His rule and authority..

Origin of Humankind

In the beginning, God created us as male and female. We were created good. We were placed in a perfect world where two realities—spiritual and physical—intersected. We were supposed to take care of God’s creation. We were meant to rule with Him!

Sin

We forfeited all the rights and privileges of our original design. Instead of trusting and obeying God, we mistrusted God and chose self-rule.

It is now in our human nature to distrust God. This is what the Bible calls sin. As a result, we are afraid of His rightful authority over us. We refuse to acknowledge or submit to God as our King (Ruler), Creator, and Father. Our relationship with God is broken.

You may have reasons why you cannot or would not trust God, let alone, submit to Him. It is true that most of us have gone through painful experiences. Evil is real, and people have experienced that God seemed absent in their lives when they needed Him the most. It is an important and legitimate point but a topic for another conversation.

We can never make it to heaven in our own strength and effort. So, God has provided us with His solution. Go to the NEXT QUESTION to find out.
