32451 Father, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and You (emphasis on unity vs three different acts)

Our new life in Christ is a supernatural living because it intimately involves all three Persons of the Triune God – the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Our fellowship is with the Father and with the Son (1 John 1:3) in the Holy Spirit.

In our relationship with God, we can relate to the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit in the same way. For example, we must obey the Son, just as we obey the Father. We follow the leading of the Holy Spirit just as we are to follow Christ. Both the Son and the Holy Spirit intercede for us (Romans 8:27, 34).

At the same time, we also relate to the Triune God differently. Jesus commands us to remain (or to abide) in Him (John 15:4). The Father is the gardener, and Jesus is the vine. We are the branches. God through the Apostle Paul also commands us to be filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18) just as Jesus was full of the Spirit (Luke 4:1). It is the indwelling Holy Spirit who guides us to Jesus the truth (John 16:13) and reveals to us the deep things of God (1 Corinthians 2:10).

Our relationship with God, or walking with the Triune God (One God in three Persons), really is a lifestyle of submitting to the will of the Father, remaining (abiding) in Jesus, and being filled with the Holy Spirit.
